    However, the "Haven" eventually shifted into a much darker reality. In its final years, the Seminary served as a psychiatric facility for the Cleveland State Hospital, housing those deemed "incurably insane".

    This transition—from the innocence of a schoolroom to the crushing weight of a mental ward—created a "perfect storm" of spiritual energy.

    • 1891 – From Students to Soldiers: Following the Civil War, the Ohio Women’s Relief Corps transforms the desks into a sanctuary for Army nurses and the destitute widows and mothers of fallen soldiers.

    • 1904 – State Intervention: The property is deeded to the State of Ohio, continuing to serve as a home for veterans and their families—a place of quiet dignity and lingering grief.

    • 1962 – The Dark Descent: In a radical shift, the building becomes a psychiatric "Opportunity Home" for patients transferred from overcrowded mental wards and those deemed "incurably insane".

    • 1975 – The Silence Begins: The state officially closes the facility and locks the heavy doors. The building is left to decay, trapping the emotional residue of school children, grieving widows, and tormented patients inside.
